Being prolific is underrated– Paul Graham.
High frequency creative efforts can be incredibly rewarding, getting into the work of producing whatever it is that inspires us. The work might not instantly be great and we’ll have to accept our initial crappy creations, but we’ll be proud of what will come eventually.
Consistent effort to be ”prolific” in our work can compound in meaningful ways that we never thought were possible.
Tupac Shakur was a lyrical genius and one of the greatest rap artists of all time. He wrote about the realities he and his peers faced growing up in poverty and his songs could be poetic and harsh all at the same time. His creative expression and love of poetry, writing and music shone through in his art.
He was prolific in every sense of the word. His music catalogue was so vast that music was still being released years after his passing. The effort, the energy, the tenacity to produce so much in so little time.
Tupac’s own creative process accumulated into some of the best rap music ever to be recorded and is a great example of how being creative with high frequency can produce great work.
The idea is simple, but not easy. Because all returns in life come from compounding–these tiny consistent efforts over time move the needle more than any other force.
Implementing small steps in our lives, this could be allocating time that is non-negotiable to be creative or avoiding social media or going for a walk. All of these steps can help let our creative thoughts to flow.
It’s incredible what humans can achieve if we put out minds to it. By being prolific our great will come.
The Rose That Grew From Concrete.
Did you hear about the rose that grew
Tupac Shakur.
from a crack in the concrete?
Proving nature’s law is wrong, it
learned to walk with out having feet.
Funny it seems, but by keeping its dreams,
it learned to breathe fresh air.
Long live the rose that grew from concrete
when no one else ever cared.
